To extend the service area of public television station KTEH, San Jose, CA, by assisting it to reactivate the signal of noncommercial station KCAH-TV. The latter station -- the license of which has been reassigned to the applicant from its previous licensee, California Community Television -- is to operate on ch. 25 from the community of Watsonville, CA. Its signal is expected to reach approximately 1.2 million residents of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties in Northern California and, for most of these viewers, it will represent the sole reliable public TV received over the air. The project would purchase a full complement of studio and transmission equipment. It would also further the station's digital conversion effort by purchasing a digital TV transmitter; for DTV, the station will operate on ch. 58.
