A three-phase application to convert public television stations KUSM-TV in Bozeman and KUFM-TV in Missoula to digital broadcasting. The application requests $3,424762 in Federal funds which is 75% of the total project cost of $4,566,351. For FY 2001, the application requests $760,146 to support purchase a digital antenna for KUSM-TV, and for an analog transmitter to permit the relocation of KUSM to permit co-location and sharing of a tower with an adjacent channel commercial television station. For FY 2002, the applications requests $1,637,116 to support purchase of a digital transmitter for KUSM, a digital antenna and transmitter for KUFM, and encoding equipment to serve both stations. For FY 2003, the application requests $1,027,500 for a video server, routing, encoding and other master control equipment for both facilities. The stations provide public television service to approximately 450,000 people in the state of Montana.
