A single-phase project that would begin the digital conversion of public television station KAKM, Anchorage, AK. Station KAKM-TV operates on analog Ch. 7 and will operate on DTV Ch. 24. The estimated total project cost is $1,073,878, with a 67% Federal request of $719,498. The project would purchase a DTV transmitter, combiner port, microwave system, signal analyzer, encoder, PSIP data server, router upgrade, diverse ancillary equipment items, and part of a tower retrofit and DTV antenna. Station KAKM intends to enter into a partnership with other area stations for a jointly shared tower and antenna. The station serves over 303,000 residents of greater Anchorage.
