To extend and improve public radio station WFAE-FM in Charlotte, NC by moving to a taller tower and replacing its side-mounted antenna. The project request includes a new antenna, transmision line, a tower study, tower modifications, half of a combined transmitter, STL, and associated equipment and installation. . The new tower location will raise the antenna height from 748 to 1204 feet above average terrain. When combined with an optimized panel antenna, the station will extend its service area to include some 34,147 people,currently unserved by any station. The station will also provide additional service to 238,158 people served by other signals. WFAE-FM currently serves some 1,202,499 people in the Charlotte and Central Piedmont area of North and South Carolina.
