A three phase project to convert public television station KBDI, operationg on Ch. 12 in Denver, to digital broadcasting. The application proposes 75% Federal funding for the first year and 67% Federal funding for each of the following two years for a project totalling $2,879,100. The total Federal request is $2,012,197. For 2002, the Federal request for $780,000 is for replacement of the current transmitter with a new digitally upgradable analog transmitter, tower modifications, and a new antenna. For 2003, the Federal request of $528,027 is for a low power digital transmitter, antenna, STL upgrade, test and monitoring equipment . In 2004, the $704,170 Federal request supports the digital retrofitting of production and studio control systems to permit full integration with the existing joint master control system. The applicant serves a population of 4 million in the Denver and Front Range area. .
