A two-phase project to assist all public television stations in their conversion to digital broadcasting. The project will purchase satellite Digital TV(DTV)Receiver/Decoders for distribution to all public TV stations. All PTV stations must have equipment compatible with the DTV satellite transmission system selected by PBS for distribution of DTV programming. The applicant is requesting $2,765,000, which is 40% of the total project cost of $6,912,500. In FY 2001, the applicant requests $1,690,600 and in FY 2002 , $1,074,400 is requested.
