A two-phase application for the digital conversion of the master control facility for WGBH/WGBX, Boston and WGBX, Springfield. The project will also purchase and install a digital transmitter for WGBX. The total cost of the project is $1,320,300 and the 25% Federal request is $330,075. For FY 2001 the request of $261,075 will support the transmitter for WGBX and master control equipment including routers, video servers, monitoring and test equipment for WGBH and WGBX. The FY 2002 request of $69,000 will fund the purchase and installation of the file server and monitoring and test equipment for WGBY. Also during phase two, the project will include purchase and installation of the encoder, satellite receiver and test equipment for WGBH/WGBX. The stations serve a population of over 5.5 million people.
