A two-phase application for the digital conversion of the two public television stations of Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, MI. The estimated total project cost is $3,408,655, with a 40% Federal request of $1,363,462. For FY 2001, the application requests $817,440 to purchase a DTV transmitter, antenna, transmission line, tower upgrade, remote control, server, ATSC encoder and controller, switcher, bug inserter, analog/digital converter, data multiplexer, captioning system, studio-transmitter link, and test equipment for WGVU-TV, Ch. 35, Grand Rapids. For FY 2002, the application requests $546,022 to purchase a DTV transmitter, antenna, transmission line, an equipment shelter, test and monitoring equipment, and a studio-transmitter link & tower for WGVK, Ch. 52, Kalamazoo. The stations serve a population of about 1,296,013.
