A three-phase application for the digital conversion of the public television stations of Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI. The estimated total project cost is $8,057,000, with a 50% Federal request of $4,028,500. For FY 2001, the application requests $1,974,250 to purchase a DTV transmitter, antenna, transmission line, combiner, PSIP generator, remote control, studio-transmitter link, and test equipment for WCMV, Ch. 27, Cadillac; and a DTV transmitter, antenna, transmission line, tower, PSIP generator, remote control, studio-transmitter link, and test equipment for WCMU-TV, Ch. 14, Mt. Pleasant. For FY 2002, the application requests $1,406,750 to purchase STL microwave equipment, including towers, a tower study and modification, dishes, shelters, and remote controls for several relay sites; a DTV transmitter, antenna, transmission line, remote control, RF couplers, PSIP generator, studio-transmitter link, and test equipment for WCML, Ch. 6, Alpena; and satellite demods, analog/digital converters, encoders, multiplexers, and encoder controllers for master control. For FY 2003, the application requests $647,500 to purchase stand-by power generators for WCMV, WCMU, and WCML plus ATSC encoders and multiplexers, a captioning system, video server, routing switcher, digital video tape recorders, and bug inserter for master control. The stations serve a population of about 1,282,651 in central and northern lower Michigan.
