A three-phase application project for the digital conversion of public television station WVIZ, Cleveland, OH. The estimated total project cost is $4,134,257, with a 40% Federal request of $1,653,702. For FY 2001, the application requests $788,364 to purchase a tower structural modification, a DTV antenna, transmission line, extensive modifications to the transmitter building, a video server, router expansion, and a digital STL. For FY 2002, the application requests $515,338 to purchase a DTV transmitter, an RF system, an ATSC demod, an encoder/mux, a PSIP generator, and diverse test and monitoring equipment. For FY 2003, the application requests $350,000 to purchase video and audio processors, an automation upgrade, VTRs, an ATSC encoder, and an HD still store. Station WVIZ-TV's signal reaches a viewing audience of approximately 3.7 million.
