For the FY 2002 grant cycle, the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program (PTFP) received 237 applications which request a total of $105 million in Federal funds. Requests for FY 2002 funds total $93 million with an additional $12 million requested during FY 2003-2004 as part of multi-year digital television applications. Of the funds requested, $75 million are for television projects, $12 million for radio projects, and $6 million for nonbroadcast projects. The 107 television projects submitted include 81 applications to assist stations in meeting the FCC’s May 2003 deadline for initiation of digital broadcasts, 24 applications for equipment replacement and two service expansion projects. The 112 radio applications include 25 projects to bring public radio to unserved areas and 87 equipment replacement proposals.

All 237 applications received by PTFP are listed on this Web site. Identification of any application only indicates its receipt and does not indicate that an application has been accepted for review, has been determined to be eligible for funding, or that it will receive an award.

PTFP also has under consideration funding the next phase of 35 digital television conversion multi-year projects awarded in FY01. A list of those projects is included on the FY 01 award list.

Any interested party may file comments with PTFP supporting or opposing an application and setting forth the grounds for support or opposition. PTFP will forward a copy of any opposing comments to the applicant. Comments must be sent as soon as possible to PTFP at the following address: NTIA/PTFP, Room 4625, 1401 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20230.

PTFP will incorporate all comments from the public and any replies from the applicant in the applicant's official file.
