Howard University seeks funding to replace aged and outmoded studio equipment at its public television station WHUT, which operates on Ch. 32 for analog and Ch. 33 for digital. This project would also begin the digital conversion of its production equipment. The proposal would purchase diverse multi-definition digital equipment: studio cameras, a portable camera, A VTR, a dockable HD deck and a production switcher. WHUT-TV provides programming of special interest to underserved minority audiences - especially African American audiences - in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area and Baltimore. The WHUT signal reaches approximately 3,300,000 viewers.
