FY 2009 Applications Received

For the FY 2009 grant cycle, the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program (PTFP) received 221 radio, television, and nonbroadcast applications which requests approximately $48.5 million in federal funds.

The 221 applications received by PTFP are listed on this Web site. The narratives were taken from Question No. 30 on the application form (Summary of Application), in which the applicant was asked to summarize the purpose and objectives of its application.

Identification of any application only indicates its receipt and does not indicate that an application has been accepted for review, has been determined to be eligible for funding, or that it will receive an award. PTFP awards for all applications received by the December 18, 2008, deadline will be announced in September 2009.

On December 9, 2008, PTFP published in the Federal Register a notice of an amended closing date to accept applications for the FCC's newly authorized digital television Distributed Transmission System service, and published another amended notice on January 30, 2009, to accept applications for digital replacement translators. Both notices extend the deadline until May 18, 2009. Applications received by the May 18, 2009, deadline will be posted after that time.

Any interested party may file comments with PTFP supporting or opposing an application and setting forth the grounds for support or opposition. PTFP will forward a copy of any opposing comments to the applicant.

Comments must be sent as soon as possible to PTFP at the following address: NTIA/PTFP, Room 4812, 1401 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20230, or to William Cooperman, PTFP Director at wcooperman@ntia.doc.gov.

PTFP will incorporate all comments from the public and any replies from the applicant in the applicant's official file.
